About the Family Support & Protection Program

Migrants SA believes that strong families are the foundation of strong communities. Our Family Support & Protection Program provides a safe, inclusive space where migrant and South African families can access help, advice, and encouragement to overcome social, emotional, and economic challenges together.

We offer Child Protection & Advocacy, Domestic Violence & Mediation, and Parenting Support & Workshops — including counselling, parenting education, financial and practical guidance, and health and wellness support. These services help strengthen family bonds, restore dignity, and promote long-term stability.

Core Family Services

Our family services are designed to restore peace, safety, and balance in every home. Whether you’re facing conflict, financial stress, or emotional strain — Migrants SA offers practical help and compassionate guidance for families to rebuild together.

🕊️ Child Protection & Advocacy

We safeguard the rights and well-being of migrant and South African children through advocacy, early intervention, and legal referrals. Our team helps report abuse, access social services, and navigate child welfare systems with dignity and confidentiality.

💞 Domestic Violence & Mediation

Our confidential mediation and counselling services support survivors of domestic abuse and family conflict. We help clients rebuild trust, restore safety, and connect with emergency shelters and legal partners when needed.

🤝 Parenting Support & Workshops

Parenting can be challenging — especially for migrant families adapting to new environments. Our workshops offer parenting education, emotional support, financial literacy, and community connections to help parents raise confident, healthy children.

All core family services are free of charge and open to everyone — regardless of nationality, income, or membership level.

Accessible, Compassionate, and Free

Migrants SA’s family services are completely free to all families — regardless of nationality or membership tier. Every parent, child, and caregiver deserves peace, protection, and hope. Our professional counsellors, mediators, and volunteers are here to help you rebuild stronger family bonds and safer homes.

No membership or payment is required for access. However, voluntary donations are always welcome to help us reach more families in need.

How We Deliver Family Support

Migrants SA uses a people-first approach — combining compassion, community engagement, and professional guidance to deliver family programs that truly make a difference.

💬 Counselling & Emotional Support

Individual and group counselling sessions (online or in-person) to help families manage emotional stress, conflict, and trauma. Delivered by trained counsellors and social workers.

⚖️ Family Mediation

Neutral mediation for resolving domestic disagreements, custody issues, or partner disputes — aiming to restore communication and peaceful coexistence before legal intervention.

👩‍👧 Parenting Workshops

Monthly workshops covering positive parenting, children’s rights, financial literacy, and adapting to South African culture — available both online and in community centres.

🚐 Community Outreach & Referrals

Our mobile outreach teams visit migrant communities, shelters, and schools to identify families in crisis, provide immediate aid, and refer cases to appropriate agencies or partners.

🤝 Partner Collaboration

We work closely with legal aid organisations, women’s shelters, and faith-based networks to expand our reach and ensure no family faces hardship alone.

Every service is confidential and guided by qualified professionals who understand the migrant experience.
