Membership Coverage & Eligibility
All Migrants SA membership tiers include access to legal, social, and family support programs. The difference lies only in the extent of financial benefit and priority — not the type of service. Every member, regardless of tier, enjoys dignity, representation, and access to justice.
⚖️ Legal Advice
Free or discounted legal consultations over the phone or in person for immigration and family-related matters.
🤝 Mediation & Support
Includes writing official letters, making calls, and negotiating with employers or authorities to resolve disputes peacefully before litigation.
📄 Litigation Support
Members are eligible for representation in immigration and related matters after required waiting periods and exclusions.
👨👩👧 Coverage for Family
Membership covers the member, spouse, and up to six dependent children under 21 years old who are unmarried and unemployed.
📅 Waiting Periods & Exclusions
- 3 months general waiting period for most tier benefits.
- 6 months waiting period before litigation or representation benefits apply.
- Exclusions: pre-existing immigration or legal matters are not covered by discounts or free thresholds but may be handled at full cost.
💰 Premiums & Claims
- Membership payments must be up to date for claims and benefits to be valid.
- All cases must be declared fully and truthfully through the official complaint form.
- Each plan has service value limits to ensure fairness and sustainability.
⚠️ Termination & Continuity
- Membership may be suspended for fraud or misconduct.
- No cancellation for non-payment due to detention or prolonged hospital admission (with proof).
- Migrants SA reserves the right to send updates and promotions to members.

Every time you invite someone to join Migrants South Africa, you help expand access to legal protection, social support, and empowerment — and you earn a thank-you reward for it.
Reward Rules Summary:
• All members can refer others — only paid tiers receive cash rewards.
• If a free-tier (Iron) member refers someone but never upgrades, their earned reward is held for 12 months, then forfeited.
• Rewards are credited directly to the member’s PMP or CivicRM wallet (depending on integration).
• Rewards can also be donated to Migrants SA’s Legal Aid & Relief Fund.

Please review the following important terms that govern your Migrants SA membership, benefits, and service coverage.
🛡️ Coverage Scope
- Tiers cover advice, mediation, and litigation support for eligible cases.
- Coverage includes the member, spouse, and up to six dependents under 21 years who are unmarried and unemployed.
- Pre-existing issues (cases started before joining) are not covered but may be handled separately at full cost.
- Iron Tier may access services at full price; paid tiers enjoy scaled discounts as shown above.
📅 Waiting Periods & Exclusions
- General benefit waiting period: 3 months after activation.
- Litigation support waiting period: 6 months.
- Exclusions: pre-existing immigration or legal matters, criminal defence unrelated to migration, and cases of non-disclosure.
💰 Premiums & Claims
- Premium payments must be current for claims to remain valid.
- Members must submit full disclosure via Migrants SA’s Complaint/Case Form before assistance begins.
- Indicative annual limits:
- Bronze — 5 legal hours / R10 000 cap per year
- Silver — 10 legal hours / R30 000 cap per year
- Gold — 20 legal hours / R100 000 cap per year
- Litigation access fee: R500 per case (waived for humanitarian emergencies).
📄 Contractual Terms
- Only the named member and registered beneficiaries hold enforceable rights.
- Membership may be suspended for non-payment or fraud, but will not be cancelled for non-payment due to verified detention or prolonged hospitalisation.
- Migrants SA reserves the right to send informational or promotional updates; members may opt out anytime.
- All personal data is handled under South Africa’s POPIA compliance framework.
